Finally! Friday is here! Last night was my company holiday party and I was late this morning. If I weren’t pregnant, it would have been because i took too many tequila shots. My tardiness was caused by the fact that I did not want to get out of my bed. Today is not going to be productive in any way at all.
For those of us who are suffering through the final days of the year at their desks and no longer have any vacation days left, I have a fun lists of things to do online to help pass the time!
Humans of NY – Brandon (the photographer) had an idea to construct a “photographic census of New York City.” Over time he collected quotes and stories and they are now compiled into a genius website that provides a glimpse into the lives of the people of NYC. I love reading the quotes on the Facebook page and the stories on the blog. They are always unexpected! I just bought the book as well on Amazon and can’t wait to get it! (Facebook, Twitter)
Post Secret – I am a long-time fan of this project! The basis is simple, people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard.
BuzzFeed – I can’t say enough good things about the social news and entertainment media company. Besides entertaining lists, BuzzFeed provides the news in interesting and shareable format!
Jezebel – Part of Gawker Media, Jezebel is a general-interest (always opinionated) women’s website. They break stories that women want to hear and are criticized by many (and praised by the rest) for being a bit critical. I love it.
The Onion – The online newspaper features satirical articles reporting on international, national, and local news. SO many people re-post articles from with insane reactions to the posts. Those are my favorites! Here is a great post bringing two of my favorite websites together: http://www.buzzfeed.com/erinchack/people-who-dont-realize-the-onion-isnt-a-real-news-source
Tell me your favorite time-suck websites and then go waste that time until it is an acceptable hour to leave work.
