Thanks for everyone who entered the giveaway for the Newport 10k! I have contacted the winner!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Despite the shitty weather, a lot of my friends (and my MIL) raced at the NJ Marathon this past Sunday. It’s always been a special race to me. It was my first half marathon and my first full marathon!
After seeing the posts of all of the success stories and goals reached, I became excited to train for a longer-distance race later this year, more specifically, Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegas in November. I also felt a little jealous. I know I am not in the place to be running a long-distance race right now since my baby is only 7 weeks old, but it is sort of like being side-lined by an injury (mentally, anyways). I want to be out there so bad but I know right now is just not my time!
For now, I am working on running a few miles at a time and slowly building my distance up over the next month to prepare for the 10k and 5 mile races I have on my schedule in May. If I get comfortable and don’t have any setbacks, I will add some speedwork to my routine once or twice a week over the summer. If all goes well, I will start following a training plan for the half in August! Well as much as I can follow a plan with a toddler and a breastfeeding infant.
I am slowly returning to working out. I ran twice last week. Tuesday was 4.25 miles and included some tough hills and Saturday was 3 miles. Both at a very easy pace.
Just last night my husband and I started the 8-week T25 program! We plan to do the short (but tough) 25-minute workouts M-F in our living room after Jennie goes to sleep. I will be running a couple of days a week on top of the workouts. Time to start my postpartum fitness journey as a mom of 2!
