Last week was a doozy. It had some super highs…
Bruce Springsteen concert!
My sister’s bachelorette party!
NEW JOB! Say what? This is the LAST Monday that I will be commuting into NYC. Great news on the life front –> After searching for well over 2 years, I finally found a new job that is 10 minutes from home. I am so relieved. I am so happy. I am finally going to be able to spend some quality time with my family after work (versus getting home just in time to put the kids to bed). Guys, I cannot actually believe it is happening. Some old posts on my commute here, here, here, here. Never again!
Moving on to this week’s training, or the lows of last week.
M 8/22: off
T 8/23: off
W 8/24: off
Th 8/25: 4 mi (2 tempo @ 7:45)
F 8/26: off
S 8/27: 8.72 mi (9:13 avg)
Su 8/28: off
Week 3 Total: 12.72 mi
So what jumps out? Oh yes, I barely ran. I don’t have any reasons besides I didn’t feel like it most days and was a hungover dead corpse on Wednesday all day after the concert on Tuesday night.
I did the tempo run late Thursday night on the treadmill (because who wants to risk running alone at night anymore outside? Not me.) and it SUCKED. I felt sluggish from the start until the finish and even cut out one of the tempo miles.
On Saturday, my friend Melanie and I met for a long run along the boardwalk. Same as Thursday’s run, I felt sluggish the ENTIRE time. We stopped a few times for water and walked a bit when we got about halfway through). We reached the end of the boardwalk at 8.72 miles (we planned for 9) and I just couldn’t fathom running another step. #dramaqueen.
I know there are highs and lows when it comes to training but this week felt pretty awful and I know it won’t hurt me in the end but I would like to pretend it didn’t happen 🙂 On to the next one (where I will force myself to cross-train).
